Reading links
Read, kiddo, read - James Patterson's site with ideas for how to get kids to read at home.
How to help your child improve reading at home
Here is a site that has a purpose of finding the right book for each kid
Lexile information (Your child's score was likely sent with the OAKS reading assessment information. I hope to let each student know his/her level in the next couple weeks.
You may check the lexile level of books at this site, generate a reading list, search by author, and much, much more.
Read alikes (one of many I believe). If you're looking for a book similar to one you like, see if it's listed here.
Vocabulary links
My favorite: at this site, for each answer you get right they donate 10 grains of rice through The World Food Programme to help end hunger. This site analyzes what you get right, then makes the words more difficult or easier depending on how you do.
This link has a vocabulary program highly recommended by some students who are top word nerds in my class. (Update - looks like it might cost $ now.)
